Our History

Started in 1987 as a one-person custom photo lab at 13th and G streets NW, COLOURS, INC. provided film-based photo services to the government, business and photographic communities. In 1990, we grew and moved to a 7800 sq foot facility, adding custom framing and mounting services. The great digital makeover began in the mid 90s with the addition of film recorders and inkjet printers. Adding additional equipment and staff in 2010, COLOURS IMAGING became a full service digital output provider with a huge and growing list of graphic reproduction methods, devices and capabilities.

Pricing & Payment Methods for Output Services.

PRICING: While we make every effort to maintain the most competitive pricing in the area for our output services, individual project costs can vary considerably due to the wide range of materials and services we make available, the variable demands of each process and fluctuations in prices of production materials from our suppliers. Customers are reassured that, once a firm estimate is made for services, COLOURS will honor those carefully calculated figures unless there are dramatic changes to project scope, direction or needs after work has begun.

PAYMENT: All work is cash on delivery until an account can be established. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, as well as SPA 960 Work Orders.

Placing Orders for Services & Prints

REPRODUCTIONS from any of our COLLECTIONS of photographic and fine art must be ordered either in person at our FALLS CHURCH facility or by phone (703-379-1121). Knowledgeable sales representatives are available to assist you in determining the best size and type of output as well as finishing options for your selected artworks.

LICENSING IMAGE FILES from any of our photography and fine art COLLECTIONS must be arranged by phone (703-379-1121). Fees are determined by file size and intended use of the images.

Turnaround Times for Requested Services

NORMAL: The average normal turnaround time required to produce most output requests is 48 to 72 hours from the time COLOURS receives all pertinent materials and files from the customer.

LARGE ORDERS: Any big, complex or otherwise unusual orders may require additional time, depending on the current workload at our facility, delays in obtaining special materials or changes in project scope or direction. While COLOURS is known for great flexibility in attempting unusual and challenging jobs, and for accomodating shifting needs of our clients, special requirements can extend project turnaround. It is, however, our standing company policy to expedite all orders — no matter how demanding — in every way possible.

RUSH: We also provide faster turnaround times when client schedules require them. Special rush rates are applied which may increase total project costs, depending upon the scope and particulars of the job.All rush work must be arranged through customer service — 703-379-1121.

Liability for Damaged Materials

COLOURS IMAGING appreciates your business and always exercises extreme care in the handling of all materials it receives for output production. The nature of our diverse activities requires us to work closely with many customer-supplied items every day — from original artworks to unique photographic negaitves. Therefore, submitting any material to Colours Inc. or its agents for processing, printing, scanning or other handling, constitutes an agreement by you that any loss or damage of submitted materials by Colours, Inc. or its agents will only entitle you to the replacement value of the original blank material that was submitted. If any additional insurance protection for original items is required, it must be arranged solely by the customer before the job is accepted.

COLOURS, INC. is not responsible for work left at our facility for over 90 days.

Copyright Restrictions &
Colours Imaging Output Services

WE OBSERVE ALL COPYRIGHT LAWS. This means that orders for scanning and reproduction are accepted with complete understanding that the customer has the legal right to reproduce the material, and must provide written permission from the copyright holder if the copyright is in question. The customer holds COLOURS, INC. blameless and indemnifies us from all cost, fees and judgements from claims or lawsuits resulting from any copyright infringement.

Customer Pickup & Colours' Delivery of Completed Materials

PICKUP: Completed work can be picked up at our FALLS CHURCH FACILITY, 3431 Carlin Springs Road, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Other times can be arranged through customer service (703-379-1121), but an additional hourly charge may apply.

DELIVERY: Colours can transport finished projects anywhere within the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. The usual charge for local areas is $25 and is quoted with estimates for project costs when delivery is requested. Greater distances or bigger packages requiring larger vehicles may incur additional charges. All deliveries must be arranged through customer service by calling 703-379-1121 or by EMAIL.
